Meet Our New Senior Pastor!

When the search team was formed to find our new Senior Pastor, it was tasked with seeking God’s will and being obedient to it. As a result, we entered a process that was both centered on the work of finding our long-term leadership and grounded in the hard work in listening to God. It was foundationally a discernment process that involved a high level of unity between all members of the search team and leadership council. Additionally, we listened to the congregation and the Lord to discern God’s longing for Apostles right now and in the future. That is what we began to refer to as the ‘heartbeat’ of Apostles. The place where God’s longing and calling for us was uniquely centered. Those helping steward that process, were encouraged by the sense of clarity and the complete unity around our identity and our needs as reflected in that heartbeat. As a result of the Lord’s faithfulness and guidance through this discernment process, we are thrilled to share that Nick Comiskey will be joining our church family, serving as our Senior Pastor. Nick and his wife, Meg, are excited to move to Raleigh and become a part of the Apostles community. Nick’s first Sunday will be July 11!

The Search Team was unanimously led to Nick as the candidate the Lord was calling to lead through the next season of Apostles. After a weekend visit to Raleigh, the Leadership Council confirmed this recommendation and Nick and Meg accepted our enthusiastic offer!

A little about Nick:
Originally from California, Nick has been most recently serving at Church of the Cross, an Anglican Church in Austin, TX. There he has been engaged with teaching, pastoral care, as well as overall leadership and strategy. Prior to that he was at Christ Church Overland Park, an Anglican congregation of over 900 members in Kansas City, for seven years. During his time there, Nick served specifically in the arenas of pastoral care, family life, and groups. For the final three years in Kansas City, Nick was the Lead Pastor planting and forming a thriving new congregation, Christ Church Mission.

The Search Team and Leadership Council have found Nick to be uniquely gifted by the Lord as an exemplary communicator and preacher, passionate about deep and authentic community, gospel-focused teaching, Spirit-filled liturgical worship and prayer. His leadership will guide our church body and help clarify and sharpen our call to make disciples in Raleigh and beyond, carrying on the legacy that has been a part of our church for the past 20 years.

Nick and Meg met in university at Grove City College in Pennsylvania. Meg works in finance in the energy sector. Both Nick and Meg are marked by a deep love for Jesus, a commitment to His church, and a desire for others to know Jesus and grow in his likeness. Learn more about Nick and Meg in this video:
